Speedway. Suárez looked like he would join his teammate in racing for the victory running in fifth with 50 laps remaining. But he was forced to pit lane to repair the diffuser flap and dropped to 19th. Sunday marked the eighth of 10 races in the 2022 playoffs and second of three races in the Round of 8. One race remains in the Round of 8 before the top four remaining drivers will race for the championship in a winner-take-all format at Phoenix Raceway on Nov. 6. Suárez is not in playoff contention, however he is now 10th in the standings after Sunday’s race. Ross Chastain and Suárez started 20th and 23rd Sunday and each ran well in the opening stage, finishing 14th and 11th. In the second stage, both Trackhouse drivers used their long run speed to move to the front with Suárez finishing seventh and Chastain eighth. The next race is Sunday at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, and the Round of 8 concludes Oct. 31 at Martinsville. Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Princess Cruises Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing: “I was proud of my pit crew today. We had a fast Princess Cruises Chevrolet and fast stops. That extra stop for the diffuser flap just ruined our chances. We didn’t have enough time to get back up to the front. I wish we could have won and given 99 fans a free Princess Cruises, but at least we got back up to 10th and 10 fans will get a free cruise.”
