Races May 20, 2023 Wreck Ends Race For 99 Quaker State Chevrolet in South Carolina Date: May 14th, 2023 Event: Goodyear 400 (Round 13 of 36) Series: NASCAR Cup Series Location: Darlington Speedway (1.366-mile oval) Format: 293 laps, broken into three stages (90 laps/95 laps/108 laps) Start/Finish: 6th / 24th (accident, completed 199 of 295 laps) Point Standing: 18th with 262 points Notes: Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished 34th in Sunday’s 400-mile NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway. The finish moves Suárez to 18th in the season point standings. Suárez was the victim of a nine-car accident on the opening lap of the final stage triggered by a car losing a tire towards the front of the field. Both Trackhouse Chevrolets ran in the top-six in the early going. A speeding penalty dropped Suárez from fourth to 27th in Stage 1. Suárez stayed on the lead lap finishing 25th. However, his day ended with the wreck at the start of final stage leaving him with a 34-place finish. Sunday marked the ninth annual “Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR” during which the industry honored the sport’s 75-year history. Nearly all the NASCAR Cup Series teams sported throwback paint schemes in the race. Suárez raced Ricky Rudd’s 1988 Quaker State paint scheme. The next race is Sunday’s NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway. FS1 will broadcast the race at 8 p.m. EDT.
