  • It was a calm race by Darlington standards with only four cautions for 25 laps during the 400 miles giving teams limited chances for strategy.
  • Suárez started 19th Sunday but struggled in the opening stage. The Monterrey, Mexico native reported a big vibration that led to him finishing 35th.
  • The second stage went a bit smoother with Suárez finishing 33rd, regaining a lap lost in the first stage.
  • Suárez climbed to 24th in the final stage.
  • Sunday’s race in Darlington marked the sport’s 10th annual “Throwback Weekend” when the industry honors the sport’s 76-year history. Most Cup Series teams sported throwback paint schemes this year.
  • Suárez’s No. 99 Quaker State Chevrolet carried a scheme celebrating the 20th anniversary of Mexican Adrian Fernandez’s IndyCar victories in 2004.
  • The Cup Series returns to action Sunday for the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Quaker State Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing:

“That was a tough day. We had a vibration in the first stage and that got us behind then we just didn’t have the pace or handling we needed. We got the car better at the end and gained some positions. We will keep pushing.”
