Races May 16, 2022 Cut Left Rear Tire Sends Suárez Into Wall After Promising Start to the Race Date: May 15th, 2022 Event: Advent Health 400 (Round 13 of 36) Series: NASCAR Cup Series Location: Kansas Speedway in Kansas City (1.5-mile oval) Format: 267 laps, broken into three stages (80 laps/85 laps/102 laps) Start/Finish: 19th / 33rd (running, completed 256 of 267 laps) Point Standing: 19th with 273 points Notes: Suárez started 19th and immediately showed his car was one of the fastest on the track climbing to sixth by lap 10. He moved into the top five by the lap 40 mark and appeared ready to contend for victory. Those hopes were dashed on lap 61 when a cut left rear tire sent the car into a spin and into the wall. The team made repairs on the damaged car and returned Suárez to the track three laps down in 35th. He continued racing the rest of the race with the wounded car ultimately finishing 33rd many laps down. Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 CommScope Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing: “That was so disappointing. We had a great car today. I wish we could have been there at the end of the race and fought for the win. We cut a tire right in the center of the corner. It was super bad timing. If it had happened a few seconds before or a few seconds later I could have saved it. I will tell you, if we keep bringing cars like that to the track, we will win a race this year.”
