  • Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez finished 31st in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series road course race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
  • Suárez started the final stage in 32nd and began working his way through the field before a spin. Late in the race, the No. 99 team gambled on strategy and pitted hoping for a caution that never came and ended the race in 31st.
  • Both Trackhouse Chevrolets showed speed on Sunday. There were no cautions other than stage breaks.
  • Suárez started 19th and broke into the top 10 by lap 8. He stayed on the track throughout the stage finishing second and collecting nine bonus points.
  • Two stops in the second stage including a pass-through for a speeding penalty left Suárez with a 35th-place finish.
  • The next Cup Series race is on Sunday at Richmond (Va.) Raceway.

Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Freeway Insurance Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing:

“That was a disappointing day. We had too many mistakes. The car showed a lot of speed at times today so there were some positives. We gambled there at the end hoping for a caution but we didn’t get one. It was worth a shot. We will be better at Richmond next weekend.”
