Notes:

  • Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suárez finished 34th in Saturday night’s 400-mile NASCAR Cup Series race at EchoPark (Atlanta) Speedway in Hampton, Ga.
  • Daniel Suárez’s race ended early in the second stage after being eliminated in a massive accident and finishing 34th. The Mexico-native did not advance to the second round in the inaugural NASCAR In-Season Tournament, which began Saturday night.
  • Suárez was involved in a major accident on lap 69, which damaged at least 17 of the field’s 40 cars. The Trackhouse driver was racing mid-pack when cars began spinning in front of him. The 99 group could not repair his car.
  • All four Trackhouse Chevrolets started the race at the back of the field, preferring to focus on the race rather than qualifying setups. In the first stage, Suárez finished 17th.
  • Seconds after the second stage began, contact between Denny Hamlin and John Hunter Nemechek on the backstretch triggered the accident that collected nearly half the field.
  • The NASCAR Cup Series returns to action on Sunday, July 6, at the Chicago Street Course.

Daniel Suárez, driver of the No. 99 Quaker State Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse Racing:

“The sad part for me was that our No. 99 Quaker State Chevrolet was very good. I was being patient, and I felt like we were coming through the field pretty well during Stage 1. I felt like our Chevy had potential. It was the start of Stage 2 and we didn’t get to race. It’s a shame. Our team did a very good job with the car and we just got caught up in the mess.”
